Pattern instructions
Body
The body is a basic sphere in single crochet. Instructions in brackets are a repeated series of stitches. Use main colour for the body and contrasting colour for the virus surface antigens (nobbley bits).
Row 1: sc 6 into magin ring
Row 2: inc all the way around (12)
Row 3: (1sc, 1inc) all the way around (18)
Row 4: (2sc, 1inc) all the way around (24)
Row 5: (3sc, 1inc) around (30)
Row 6: (4sc, 1inc) around (36)
Rows 7-10: sc around (36)
Row 11: (4sc, 1dec) around (30)
Row 12: (3sc, 1dec) around (24). Add stuffing. Attach safety eyes between rows 5 and 6, about 6 stitches apart.
Row 13: (2sc, 1dec) around (18)
Row 14: (1sc, 1dec) around (12)
Row 15: (dec) around (6)
Bind off and close up any remaining holes when you weave in the ends.
Nobbley bits
Use contrasting colour. These are just small spheres with the top part pulled down into the bottom part and attached to the body randomly or in a pattern as you prefer. Make about 12
Row 1: sc6 into magic ring
Row 2: inc all the way around (12)
Row 3-4: sc all the way around.
Row 5: dec all the way round. Bind off. Pull the beginning of the yarn through the bottom of your work hard to make the sphere collapse into a bowl shape.
Once you have made the number required, sew onto body

Use yarn in main colour.
ch21, turn
sc into second from hook and then sc to end, turn
ch 1, sc to end. Bind off and leave 20cm tail of yarn for attaching to body.
Double over and sew both ends to body. Attach keyring.
